Let us be up-front and open with one another. I am a liberal. Always have been a liberal. Not the way Ann Coulter and that bunch define “liberal” but in the sense that I am able to think outside my own self-interest and consider the possibility of aiming for the greater good.

Nevertheless, all viewpoints are welcome here. I am here to be outspoken and opinionated and I allow, and expect, all others to be the same. I think the discussion will be more interesting and fruitful if my ideas are tested by those whose sentiments are on the other side, whatever the issue.

Your opinion is welcome. Opinion is opinion, however, not fact. When you undertake to state a “fact,” be ready to back it up with source material. We will undertake to check one another’s “facts.”

We will allow NO ad hominem comments. (Tip of the chapeau to the legendary programmer Howard Benner for that rule.) That means you can attack the statement, but not speaker. No personal insults. Call my hand if I violate that rule. I will call yours.

If you are already have a WordPress ID, post away. I retain the right to edit for grammar, spelling, PG Rating and appearance only, NOT content (unless you violate the Howard Benner rule). If you do not yet have a screen name, register with WordPress.com and get one. It costs you nothing. You can use your real name or create a separate screen ID and post on the tens of thousands of blogs hosted by WordPress. You will even be given the opportunity to claim your own free blog, or you can choose to just take a screen name, for now.
